The Engel typeface is one of my earliest realises. It was originally designed in 2004, for a Danish university magazine I was working on at the time.
I have always liked the idea of designing my own typefaces for graphic design jobs. My intention was to create at sans serif typeface that works well when used in running text, and still works in display sizes. I began creating Engel because I was missing a tight sans serif face with high legibility and with an italic style that wasn’t just a slanted version of the roman. I wanted to create a roman face with a masculine look, and a feminine italic style, while still keeping them in the same family.
